So, tell me. What's the problem? What do you really want?

You are one of 9,000+ people subscribed to my Off Grid Living & Survival™ newsletter. Yet I rarely hear from you.

I rarely see you on the blog reading the content, I rarely see you interacting with the content I share on social media, and I rarely see you sign up for my magazine I have spent 11+ years, thousands of hours writing, creating, editing, and tens of thousands of dollars publishing over the last 11 years since I launched the magazine.

What happened?

People haven't stopped reading. People read all the time. And the content quality has INCREASED, it hasn't DECREASED.

Yet here we are.

Are you just not interested in reading about off grid living anymore?

Do you hate reading?

Are you just not an avid reader? You do know that when you signed up for a newsletter you need to read it, right? Not being an ass, I'm asking a legitimate question.

What did you think you were going to get from my newsletter?

Did you not get what you signed up for? If not why not?

Tell me. Is it because I don't deliver? I've been delivering fresh off grid content for 15 years. So tell me, what's the problem now?

11 years ago I launched the magazine because people wanted it and it was a good idea. But now it's like people believe it's not worth anything.

Regardless of the content inside some people apparently and incorrectly believe it's worthless?

They don't think it has what they need? They don't understand how someone can be homeless and still know what they're doing when it comes to living off grid?

Do they falsely believe that because I'm homeless that somehow negates my 50 years of experience in the outdoors and growing up off grid?

Do they not understand that it's a money situation and this system is what's causing the problems?

Are they confusing homelessness with failure and forming a false conclusion and logical fallacy that because I'm homeless that means I'm a failure and don't know shit about off grid living and survival?

Because ANYONE and EVERYONE that believe that is believing a lie and ignoring the truth of the system that keeps us all down.

Am I just supposed to forget all my ideologies philosophies and beliefs and go against my beliefs about not working for a greedy corrupt system and just "get a job", when I already have one?

Am I supposed to give up on my audience and blog and magazine because two giant greedy corporations stole my audience, locked it behind and paywall, and not charges me to reach the people that chose to read my content?

Am I supposed to let FB and Google steal my livelihood and do nothing about it, and just rollover and kowtow to the greed and corruption that stole my livelihood and "get a job"?

Because I already have a job. This is my job! I have worked for over a decade and a half build the largest off grid audience in the world and then two corporations stole my livelihood.

It's not like I don't have good content. My content is very good quality. It's not that I can't write.

It's that my audience was stolen from me by Facebook and Google. I was ranked in the TOP 10 on Google search for thousands of keywords and I made enough money to live on because I had 30 years of website building and SEO experience to draw from. But Google didn't just kill blogs, it killed the livelihoods of millions of bloggers. All because they now cater to ecommerce and ads and their AI answer machine destroyed Google Search. That destroyed my rank and my traffic from Google. And that destroyed my livelihood.

Facebook did the same thing with organic reach on their platform. The throttled reach so badly people can't reach their audiences anymore.

Used to be you could reach your audience. Now you can't. Less than 1% of my total audience actually sees my posts now it's so bad. This killed reach and traffic and that destroyed my blog and magazine.

Using AI didn't hurt my blog. FB and Google did.

And I refuse to get a job when I'm fighting for what I believe is right, to fight against those that destroyed my livelihood. Why should I go against everything I believe about the greedy corrupt system to work for a system that still actively destroys people's livelihoods and forces them to work multiple jobs just to get by.

I chose my path. It is different than others' paths. I could find some kind of remote online job, sure, and then what, I give up my beliefs? I go against my beliefs? Would you go against your beliefs? We're not talking about believing you shouldn't get a job. We're talking about believing that supporting a system that allows BILLIONS of people to suffer in abject poverty while the rich elites fill their ban accounts, buy mcmansions and eat steak and lobster while the majority of the people in the world are suffering? No.

People accuse me of being lazy. I'm not lazy. I choose not to work for the system that treats people like shit and uses them and profits massively off their work without paying them what they're worth. And if you support that system, then you are not my people.

If you support a system that exploits billions of people without paying them what they're worth, denies them quality healthcare, saddles them with unforgivable debt, charges them outrageous prices for the things they need to live, and pays them shit wages to work multiple shit jobs only to just barely get by, then you are not my people if you support that kind of system.

Can people not see that what I'm doing is activism against the greed and corruption of the greedy corrupt system we're all trying to escape by going off grid!?

Can people not see that or make that connection? Or do they need it spelled out for them?

Or is it a pride thing, where people are just like "he's pointing out uncomfortable truths, and he's so awkward and "mean" and "rude" and using that as lame excuses not to read what I publish?

If that's the case then, yeah, those that do that aren't my audience and they aren't my people.

So... what's the problem?

It's clearly not my content. I've been writing the same content for 15 years and its only gotten better over the years.

It's not that people don't read.

BILLIONS of people read every day.

Is it a misconception about AI and what AI is?

Is it fear and uncertainty and doubt about AI? The FUD of AI?

Are you conflating low quality with AI enhanced content?

Are you buying into the lie that AI is bad?

Do you think that content enhanced and edited by AI isn't "real" enough for you?

Or are you just against AI because everyone in your circle is, they call that bandwagoning. There's no thought in that. That's not thinking for yourself.

If that's you then you aren't my audience because my people think for themselves and don't let people tell them what to think.

Is that the problem?

Even though I've explained my process, it doesn't seems to matter to some people. Hopefully that's not you.

So tell me. What's the problem?

What do I have to do to get you to subscribe to my magazine again?

I hear you thinking..."get with the times, magazines are dead".

No... Magazines are not dead. Billions of people still read.

You still read, yeah? You still want off grid knowledge and information, yeah?

So...what's the problem?

You used to subscribe. You used to read. You used to spend hours on my site. Now I don't see you there anymore...what happened?

Where'd you go?

I know it's not just me. I know it's not just that I started using AI to help me edit. I know it's not the content quality that's the problem. So tell me what it is.

Are you just not interested in reading anymore?

You want video?

Is it that simple?

You just want to watch video?

Do you want video? Why? Reading was fine back in the day, but now it's not for some reason?

Not to be mean, but do you want video because video is easy and you're used to so much free easy content that you got spoiled and want everything free now in your feed because it's easier?

Maybe some people don't feel they have to work anymore for the content they're consuming for free while they doom-scroll your FB feed, is that it?

And please, don't tell me about the "environment" or how AI uses "so much energy and water" while ignoring all the resources and energy and water every other person and company in the world uses every single day. Including you.

So what is the real issue here?

You just like video better? You don't like reading anymore?

Is that it? It's an honest question.

Or is it more than that?

Tell me.

People say to me sometimes, "you're not listening".

Now I'm saying:

"OK. Fair enough. I'm listening... Now tell me what you want and I'll try my best to provide it."

No bs, no excuses, no anything. Just plain old listening and I will give it my best effort to change and make things right.

But where I draw the line is when people attack my integrity and dignity and my knowledge, my experience and my dedication to providing quality content for people to help them on their off grid journey.

Don't believe the bs you read online about people. Think for yourself, don't let other people tell you what to think.

It's ok for you to have your own opinion and if you don't like my content, you're free to keep scrolling.
