Hey everyone,
This 2-million-member group and the blog don’t run on good vibes. They run on the hours I put in every single day: writing long-form articles, editing the magazine, moderating, answering questions, and keeping the signal-to-noise ratio high in a world drowning in clickbait.
The group and magazine are separate. The magazine pays for itself, but it doesn't pay for the group too. I operate and manage the group at a loss, every day, every week and every month. The magazine is sustainable. The group is not. The magazine works. The group...not so much. It's a time suck and as we all know, time is money. Facebook doesn't monetize groups so I ask folks to contribute back to the group and keep it going.
This group has 2 million members because the content is real, written, and useful. No clickbait, no ads everywhere.
It takes hours every day to write the articles, put out magazine issues, moderate, and keep the quality high. Time is money and money is time.
Nothing is free, as they like to say.
Without enough monthly support coming in, I can’t keep investing that much unpaid time. Simple as that.
If you read the posts and actually use the info I publish, and you like the group, if it helps you, then $5 or $10 or $20 a month from you is what makes it worth doing.
That helps pay the bills and keep everything running smoothly. This isn't a beg or borrow and I'm not pleading. I'm saying work costs time and money and if you enjoy the group then I would appreciate if you step up and realize that it costs me time and money to keep everything going and I would be grateful for your support.

ADS VERSUS DONATIONS: It's either I flood the group and blog and magazine with ads or some folks can step up and support an ad-free experience.
I'm done just giving content away with nothing to show for it, and worse, catching flak when I ask for support to keep the group going.
I’m a writer, I give away 99% of my content for free, and I’ve never flooded the group with affiliate or sponsored ads or low-quality clickbait or ragebait garbage to chase the algorithm or make a buck. I'm transparent and what you see is what you get.
Reality check: without enough consistent monthly support through magazine subscriptions and donations, it simply isn’t worth the massive time and energy I pour into managing and feeding the group. Plain and simple math.
My time is worth money and millions of people enjoy and use the group, if just 1% of folks want to help out, that would be awesome! It would be more than enough to keep the group going.
